1. An Introduction to Family Engagement

Welcome! We’re excited to set you up for success with Abre for family members. Abre’s mission is to open learning communities by connecting what matters. Families are one of the fastest-growing stakeholders in Abre.

Abre enhances family partnerships by giving family members one website to access important information about their student(s) and providing helpful resources both in and outside the school.

Why Use Abre with Families?

We typically see families having to visit many different spots to understand the full picture of their students. Some examples:

  • A website for district announcements
  • Robocalls from a different company
  • Newsletters
  • A learning management system to see class work
  • A grade book connected to the SIS
  • State website to understand and see state assessment results
  • 3rd Party assessment organizations to view results (e.g. ACT/SAT)
  • Various behavior platforms
  • Etc.

Products that focus on family engagement tend to concentrate on communication. While communication is critical, it’s only part of the story when it comes to family engagement.

Abre reduces the amount of siloes involved in education. Families can visit one place (their district’s Abre instance) and find nearly everything they need to know.
