2. Configure Your Classes (Milestone 1)

Configuring involves adding a course banner, hiding classes, and renaming your classes.

Determine what classes you want to display

Rostering classes and students is like building a house: There are a million ways to create rooms. Your school may have rostered classes in a way that gives a teacher a hundred active classes for the term. Abre Class inherits the schedule from your SIS.

When you have many courses appearing, you will want to hide the classes you don’t want to see. This doesn’t mean you’re deleting the class. You’re simply hiding them.

How to Hide Classes

  1. Click on the Class App
  2. Click on the “Edit Courses/Class” Button
  3. Hide the classes you don’t want to see

Determine Class Names

Again, Abre inherits the names of the classes from the SIS. Frequently they will have names like “3R908” – which don’t mean anything to the end user 😀 – and you will want to change the name to something that provides clarity.

Note you can change the name of the classes by clicking on the “Edit Courses” button.

Change the Banner

A class banner appears at the top of every class. We recommend teachers upload a unique and fun banner for each class.

Upload Banner

To do so, simply click on the “upload image” button.

ProTip!

Create a fun class banner using the wonderful tool “Canva“. We recommend a 16:9 ratio for an image.
