When developing your Abre class, we encourage educators to follow two core principles.
KISS – Keep It Stupid Simple* Principle
Design your class with simplicity in mind. Remove unnecessary complexity. Remember your audience (your students) and their abilities.
KISS is especially important when setting up your weight categories and your topics (more on that in a bit). Also, there are some basic rules you can follow to embrace this principle when designing activities.
An exception to the KISS principle that we like to encourage is the Goldilocks Principle.
The Goldilocks Principle.
Some of the best learning happens when an activity or challenge is not too easy AND not too hard. This is known as the Goldilocks Principle. And it can be really hard to execute (especially in a class of students with varying degrees of mastery).
Still, it’s a solid goal. You may want to differentiate activities based on this principle. With Abre Class, you have that flexibility.
